Why tumblr

I love the ever changing and rapid progression of the socially “creative” networking websites. What are a few of them again? The obvious of course, i.e. Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Flikr, tumblr…and the many others I’m sure that will make an appearance sooner or later.

I was talking to a friend who was suggesting I make a tumblr account as a way to communicate with people. It confused me for a moment because I was sure that tumblr was more of a blog than it would be another facebook or a myspace. I told her I would look into it, but I probably wouldn’t start one. It’s hard enough to keep up with twitter let alone an actual BLOG about my life…in addition to the blog I already have going on another site.

What convinced me to, cave in, and start an account was the simplicity of it all. Twitter is simple, but I find it a bit boring. Facebook has a million applications, the FB chat, the comments, the messages, song dedications the friend requests the status updates!!! etc. etc. and myspace is quickly surpassing that. Flickr is fun, yes, but I already post enough pictures on the aforementioned sites. However Tumblr…aaah, no one seems to take this as a hardcore way to get emotions out or to compete in how many friends you can follow. And there doesn’t seem to be much emphasis on what is generally expected . No specifics. I can write what I want, even if it’s just the caption to a picture….I can post what I want…even if it’s a picture of my cat or a pretty sunset.

Well, all of this being said. Here I am…joining another site, hoping I can keep up with it! We will see I guess.
